BYLAWS

Including amendments made at the C.C.I.T.A. General Meeting March 5, 2013 effective immediately.

Article One 

Mission Statement

Section A

The mission of C.C.I.T.A. is to:

  1. Create opportunities for all Century Students to explore Information Technology.
  2. Develop the skills we will use in our IT careers.
  3. Build a social network of Century IT students.
  4. Connect Century IT students to the IT community beyond Century College.
  5. Give back to the students of the Century College.

Article Two 

Membership

Section A

  1. Any student who is interested in joining the C.C.I.T.A. will be accepted as a member.

Article Three

Meetings & Quorum

Section A
Meetings

  1. Club Representatives and members will schedule regular meetings and events.
  2. Topics may include, but are not limited to: upcoming events, fundraising opportunities, demonstrations, website update information, promotional ideas, lab & exercise suggestions, and all voting issues.

Section B
Quorum

  1. The minimum number of members necessary to conduct C.C.I.T.A. elections and votes is 3.

Article Four 

Club Representatives

Section A
Application and nomination procedure

  1. A club member must be nominated at an official C.C.I.T.A. meeting.
  2. All nominees must explain to our members why He/She wants to represent our organization.

Section B
Elections

  1. All elections shall be held at official C.C.I.T.A. meetings.
  2. Annual elections will be held in the last month of spring semester.
  3. Only those members who have attended 1 previous C.C.I.T.A. event in the last two semesters will represent a vote.

Section C
Representative Term

  1. Representatives will hold their positions for 1 year starting the first day of summer semester and continuing to the last day of Spring semester.

Section D
Succession

  1. If the President resigns or is removed from the position, the Vice President assumes the presidency.
  2. In the event that the Vice President cannot assume the vacancy, the secretary will assume the presidency.
  3. In the event that the secretary cannot assume the vacancy, the treasurer will assume the presidency.
  4. In the event that the treasurer cannot assume the vacancy, an election will be held by club members at the next scheduled meeting.

Section E
Appointments

  1. If a representative chooses to vacate their position the remaining representatives may choose to appoint an interim representative to fill the position until a vote can be held at the next meeting.
  2. A representative position may be created and voted in by the board to fulfill an unforeseen need of the club.

Article Five 

Club Representatives’ Duties

Section A
Duties of the President

  1. Shall preside at all meetings, or ensure the presence of club Vice President if unable to attend.
  2. Act as official representative of the club.
  3. Facilitate the events and activities of the club.
  4. Coordinate logistics for all club meetings and functions.
  5. Assume all duties not otherwise delegated.
  6. Work with other club representatives.

Section B
Duties of Vice President

  1. Assume all duties and responsibilities of the President when needed.
  2. Assume all other duties as may be assigned by the president or related to the club.

Section C
Duties of the Secretary

  1. Shall maintain and organize all files and records of the club.
  2. Take the minutes and roll call of all club meetings.
  3. Publish copies of minutes in a timely fashion.
  4. Assume other duties as may be assigned or related to the club.

Section D
Duties of the Treasurer

  1. Ensure the overall financial security and accountability of the club.
  2. Maintain Journal of receipts.
  3. Distribute financial reports to the club members when requested.
  4. Coordinate bill payment procedures with the club advisor.
  5. Monitor all expenditures of the club.
  6. Assume other duties as may be assigned or related to the club.

Section E
Student Senate Representative

  1. Attend Student senate meetings as a representative of C.C.I.T.A.
  2. Ensure that no 2 consecutive student senate meetings pass without a C.C.I.T.A. representative.
  3. Find a substitute if unable to attend a 2nd consecutive student senate meeting.
  4. Assume other duties as may be assigned or related to the club.

Section F
Communications Director

  1. Produce club promotional materials.
  2. Create and distribute club wide emails and invitations.
  3. Update club website.
  4. Maintain Membership contact list.
  5. Assume other duties as may be assigned or related to the club.

Section G
Historian

  1. Document club events.
  2. Keep a record of all club documents.
  3. Help promote the club.
  4. Assume other duties as may be assigned or related to the club.

Section H
Associate Vice President

  1. Shall assume role of Vice President if incumbent is not present.
  2. Will assist with whatever duties may be assigned by the President or Vice President.

Section I
Associate Secretary

  1. Shall assume role of Secretary if incumbent is not present.

Article Six

Club member duties

Section A

  1. Members must attend one event, meeting, or activity per semester.

Article Seven 

Removal or resignation of club members

Section A
Removal

  1. The C.C.I.T.A. members have the right to remove any club member or representative at any time by a two-thirds (2/3) vote. This vote must take place at an official C.C.I.T.A. meeting.
  2. All club representatives are subject to removal if their duties are not performed as stated in the club bylaws. This will also be determined by a two-thirds (2/3) vote.

Section B
Resignation

If a club representative wants to resign, He/She must announce it at a C.C.I.T.A. meeting or submit the resignation in writing/email to the C.C.I.T.A. president to be presented at the next meeting.

Article Eight

Amendments

Section A

  1. This document may be amended by a majority vote of the club members present.
  2. This document may be suspended, in whole or in part, temporarily, by majority vote of the club members present.

Article Nine 

Ratification

Section A

  1. This document may be reviewed and ratified by a simple majority vote of the club members present.
