On Saturday March 5th 2011, Century College’s Collegiate Cyber Defense Team became the first in the competition’s history to place as a first year competitor in the state CCDC competition!
With a 3rd place finish we are a backup team for the regional competition so it is not likely that we will continuing on this year, but we have shown how dangerous we are for next year!
So many people sacrificed time and energy to make this achievement possible.
The 12 team members selected from 28 practicing members: Paul (E-Commerce Admin), Melissa (Logging Admin), Mark (Workstation Admin), Lisa (E-mail Admin), Kathy (E-mail Admin), Jamie (Workstation Admin), Evan (Logging Admin), Erin (Sharepoint Admin), Dave (Coach), Cory (Network Admin), Andy (FTP Admin), Andrew (Sharepoint Admin) and Amy (ADS Admin).
We want to thank CCITA and the student senate for helping and supporting us financially.
CCDC is the first competition that specifically focuses on the operational aspect of managing and protecting an existing “commercial” network infrastructure. Not only do students get a chance to test their knowledge in an operational environment, they will also get a chance to network with industry professionals who are always on the look out for up and coming engineers. CCDC provides a unique opportunity for students and industry professionals to interact and discuss many of the security and operational challenges the students will soon face as they enter the job market.
CCDC not only benefits the students involved, but will also benefit corporations as these graduates will be bringing a more experienced skill set to their jobs upon beginning their employment. CCDC also provides direct feedback for schools to exercise, reinforce, and examine their security and information technology curriculum.
